History

The Peace By Piece Quilters are a dedicated group of volunteers committed to the effect of making comfort quilts for sick and traumatized children in the east valley. Our quilts are distributed though the non-profit organization of Arizona Blankets 4 Kids (AZB4K).

Peace By Piece was founded April 2004 by Wanda Dix.  After 15 years she was ready for a change. The group donated 7536 quilts during her leadership.  Her attention to details made for an easier transaction.

Thank you  Wanda!

As of June 2019 Peace By Piece continues under new leadership.  New leadership calls for a new website. The new website is: peacebypiecequilters.com. There is just a slight change     .com       not .org.

When Wanda was ready for her next chapter, she asked me if I was interested in a leadership role.  I was excited and a bit frightened to see if there was a fit for me.

I am Gala Reiman.  I started attending PBP in 2009. I worked mostly in the background.  I would have lunch with the quilters, then I would drop off and pick up what I needed.

In June and August, we continued as usual.

What happened next? Covid!

Everything was put on hold.  The church wasn’t available, and we were being careful with social distancing. We needed to redesign our bee.  We started by doing a “come-n-go” from my front door. During that time we donated 713 quilts. Our quilters took amazing advantage of their time at home.

As of April, 2021, the fellowship hall became available on the first Thursday of the month, but not on Wednesday evening to set-up for the bee. With limited man-power and limited time I decided to set up a modified bee.  There are no sewing machines, no ironing boards.

The modified bee is monthly from 9-11:00. Show-n-tell at approximately 10:30.
